The three most traditional crystals used for yoni eggs are obsidian, jade, and rose quartz. Any non-porous, non-chipped yoni stone is safe to use and will help strengthen pelvic floor muscles, awaken sexual energy, and bring healing to the womb space. 

Obsidian is unique in that it is coded for shadow work. It is the yoni egg to work with when you want to go deep, when you're really ready to make space and time for ancestral-level healing of old traumas, outdated programming, and bygone relationships. It carries the energy of the "Dark Goddess" - the Fierce Mother archetype of the Divine Feminine who sometimes brings tough love because she wants to see you succeed and thrive. Ancient (and modern) cultures that discovered the power of Obsidian revered it for these reasons.

Revolutionary, right!? I'm a firm believer that the way through is through! We can't bypass our dark places of shame, fear, guilt, anger, and sorrow. The heavy emotions and residual traumas of our past live in our bodies - and if we don't acknowledge and heal them, they run the show from our subconscious, keeping our systems triggered and reactionary. This is the realm of the Dark Goddess, who helps us cut away energies that no longer serve in order to fully thrive.

I've learned that the way to transform these shadowy places is through conscious intent and compassionate communication. Only then can they be released from our physical bodies, relieving us of pain, heaviness, and patterns that contribute to poor health. When we bring love and pleasure into the process of meeting our shadows, it becomes a journey that unlocks our deepest ecstatic states, self-love, and inner wisdom - helping us literally change our DNA to support a life of greater thriving and connection.

Obsidian is a unique tool to help in this journey, working with the Earth communication systems and the collective unconscious (the Dreamtime) to bring subconscious shadows to light - to be witnessed and integrated. To be whole is to be Sovereign! And to be Sovereign is to be at peace, to be in choice, and to live in a state of daily bliss, no matter the external circumstances. I'm personally all in for that, and love empowering others all in as well.

I very much understand and honor this question. Skepticism is so important! I'm a scientist, first and foremost, and value experiencing things myself to find my own truth. I've also been awakened to the incredible healing powers and conscious intelligence of Nature, which has changed my life in so many beautiful ways. 

Obsidian is actually not really a "stone" and it's also not really a crystal. It's completely unique in the world of geology as the only naturally occurring glass from the planet's own processes. A glass with magnetic properties, basically frozen magma with the vibrational signature of Inner Earth - Obsidian has a long-lived reputation for being able to absorb and transmute dense energies in a powerful way. I have personally found this to be true and have witnessed it work this way with others as well.

I've come to understand Obsidian as being a tool for accessing and communicating with the greater-than-human intelligence embodied by Planet Earth, Mama Gaia. Learning to attune with Obsidian is learning to open our listening receptors in a deeper way. Similar to how plant medicines can alter our consciousness and communicate with us through their unique intelligence. I would even say that to journey intentionally with the Obsidian Egg is akin to a low-grade, prolonged medicine journey like Ayahuasca or Psilocybin. Although it has not been proven, I believe it activates similar neural channels to expand our consciousness and helps accelerate our healing from addictions, depression, and sabotage patterns, while bringing pleasure, joy, and trust in the process. 

This is the reason I capitalize Obsidian, because it truly has a divine essence, intelligence, and coding of its own.

... I also feel it's important to say that as with anything - don't give your power to the Obsidian. Or to any tool or intelligence you work with. These are tools and allies, not gods and saviors. Their function is to help us remember our own Power, to reclaim lost pieces of our Soul so we can live and thrive in the way we are meant to, open to new possibilities and new dimensions of love and joy. YOU are the Power. How you unlock it - that is your unique path and your unique work!

Obsidian can be an amazing ally in this journey, but it's not the only one, and it's not for everyone. Which leads us to the next question....

I believe this work finds us when we are ready for it. Perhaps suddenly you're seeing Obsidian Eggs everywhere or keep hearing about them and now have a curiosity in your heart. Perhaps you've had an Obsidian Egg for awhile but were a little intimidated to use it, or didn't know where to start. Some women have dreams of the Obsidian Egg before working with it. Others just know intuitively that they will benefit from this practice.

It tends to find us when our inner volcanoes are rumbling, perhaps ready for eruption (in the best way!). Or when there are things in our life that have reached a head, when change is knocking on our door.... Although these may not be the easiest times to commit to a new practice, it is exactly that commitment that can carry us through victoriously to the other side, rising like the Phoenix!

Alternatively, some women are very clear they are NOT called to work with Obsidian. As it is magnetic, it either repels you or attracts you.

If you feel a pull, an inner Yes, maybe even a little trepidation or a flutter in your stomach - that is a good sign that your Underworlds are calling you to journey with them in a sacred way. Know that you are protected, you are guided, you are loved, and you are safe to explore these realms as you follow the cookie crumbs of inspiration and intuition. The fears will melt away as your courage rises and over time the shadowed places won't feel so scary.

This is a very understandable question I get asked a lot. I believe that if you are being called to the Obsidian Yoni Egg, you will feel it.... and if it is calling you, you are ready. Getting out of our comfort zone is such an important part of growth. And being held in a sacred and supportive way as we navigate our edges makes the growth process so juicy and nourishing and heart-opening. Integration, dream work, ritual, and ceremony are a big part of this work for these reasons - to consistently ground in new insights and continue teaching our system to expand into greater capacities of safety as we write and live new stories.

This practice can be too much if you are navigating an acute recent trauma or your mental health is unstable (see contraindications, below), which is why I start with an intake application and a call with you to determine together if this is the right time and the right practice for you.

As a disclaimer - I am not a doctor or a therapist - and while there are not scientific studies that prove the efficacy of the Obsidian Egg, there are countless anecdotal tales as well as science-based harmonizing practices that support the transformations it provides. I hold my containers in a sacred way informed by years of training to encourage deep explorations while simultaneously supporting the nervous system. We can only expand to the capacity we have cultivated.

Absolutely! The beauty of working with Obsidian is that it will meet you exactly where you're at and you don't need anything but your own desire and commitment and willingness to listen deeply and look at what comes forth.

Because working with the Obsidian Egg can bring things up, I recommend having support people on hand if needed - therapists, counselors, etc. I've personally paired intentional Obsidian Egg work with EMDR, Family Constellations, and Internal Family Systems with great success. Deep self-compassion, regular movement, cleansing the digestive system and regular body work are all supportive to this process, to help move old, stuck energy out of the system: massage, acupuncture, fascia release, lymph system tune-ups, whatever your intuition is letting you know you need. 

AND - I've also found that Obsidian likes to work within the shared resonance field of a group, as it is a calibrator to a shared collective consciousness. I feel having the support and guidance of an experienced, trauma-informed container allows for an accelerated process that is also much easier on the nervous system than going about it on our own (I have done both!). I've found it is possible to co-regulate within a shared field united in a common focus and intention, which strengthens the healing process and tangibility of quantum leaps.

There is some time commitment involved with the Obsidian Egg practice, I won't lie! Transformation requires "non-busy" time and new sensory input - which allows for new neural pathways to form. The egg practice itself involves 15-30 minutes each evening. I also highly encourage to adopt a morning dream journal practice. 

Other meditations, teachings, and journal exercises will be available to you over the course of each month to assist you in deepening into your personal intention, as you have the space. As with anything, you get out of it what you put into it! The more time you make available to your healing, the faster it will meet you :) Especially when Obsidian is involved! However, this is not intended to be a linear, check-all-the-boxes course. Work with what speaks to you and leave the rest.

You will have access to the entire course portal for another 3 months after the container closes if you want to go back through the journey on your own and work with things you skipped. There are also options for longer initiations with the Obsidian Egg if the work deeply speaks to you!

Part of our first communications together will be about finding times for our calls that work for our small Journey Pod. Everyone has different schedules and a 2+-hour chunk of time can be a challenge to agree on - evenings, weekends, afternoons are all possibilities. I encourage you to prioritize the live calls together because that's where the magic really comes together and any absence is felt by the group. However, I also understand that life happens and sometimes it just doesn't work out! if you're not able to make a call, it's all good - you will be missed and a recording will be available :)

It is not recommended to work with the Obsidian Yoni Egg if:

- you have an IUD or use hormonal birth control

- you're recovering from a recent surgery 

- you are pregnant or breastfeeding

- you've had a recent, acute trauma

- your mental health feels unstable

The Obsidian Egg can help with all disturbances of the womb - on physical, emotional, and spiritual planes. If pain is present, the Obsidian Egg can definitely help - but it also may temporarily make the pain worse. Always listen to your body and intuition when using any kind of yoni egg. There are other options to continue the protocol and still receive the benefits of the Obsidian Egg if it is too much to use the egg internally. 

I have personally healed myself of endometriosis, fibroids, uterine cysts, and low progesterone in the 3 years I have been consistently working with the Obsidian Egg! It does help.Although healing is a journey, you will very likely experience improvements even in the 3 months of this journey.

As long as your egg is made from genuine Obsidian and is not chipped or cracked, it is fine to use. This protocol does not apply to any other kind of stone - jade, rose quartz, or other glass. It is only for Obsidian. If you already have your egg, I do offer a small discount off the course price.
